Biography
This is my story, so far .......
I was born in Porthleven in the far south-west of Cornwall in 1957 and moved away from my home county at the age of 20. Before painting full-time, my entire working life was spent within various organisations where I managed administrative, finance and pension scheme functions. I blended well with the corporate world!
In 2002, at the age of 45, I gave up my full-time, salaried, position in order to concentrate full-time on painting.
I spent every day working on drawing and painting, both in London and in Sydney. I am now living in Finland for 12 months.
I studied for 4 years, privately, at the Hampstead School of Art and also at Morley College.
Portraiture is something I like very much. Meeting and painting so many different people - and spending time alone with them - is very rewarding. I encourage my sitters to talk during the painting process as this makes the image more animated and less "posed" in composition.
I have exhibited in London and have sold to collectors in this country and the US and continue to paint with my friend and colleague Douglas Druce
